Mato Grosso to export pork to Hong Kong
Pig farmers in Sorriso (460 km north of Cuiabá) will export their first container of pork to Hong Kong in the first half of October. This was the announcement made by the president of the Mato Grosso Pig Farmers Association (Acrismat), Paulo Lucion, during the official launch of sowing the 2012/13 soybean crop, on Monday.
At the event, the Agriculture Minister, Mendes Ribeiro Filho, was made an honorary citizen of Sorriso and celebrated the opening of new markets for pig farming in Mato Grosso. "I just learned that Sorriso is for the first time going to export to Hong Kong, and this shows that the work done by the Ministry and the Associations behind the scenes has worked. Gradually, new markets will open up and I say that very soon even the issue of the Russian embargo will be resolved," he said.
