Agribusinesses in Santa Catarina eager to sell pork to Japan

Agribusinesses in the west of Santa Catarina state are hoping to sell 8,000 tons of pork a month to Japan as of 2013. Japan is the world's largest importer of pork, buying about 1.2 million tons a year. Sales still depend on trade relations between Japan and the agribusinesses, however. The Secretary of Agriculture in Santa Catarina, João Rodrigues, says, "We will have a Brazilian mission in Japan handling the matter, as well."
