JBS not to make any more poultry acquisitions this year
The president of JBS, Wesley Batista, says the company will not make any more acquisitions or lease any more assets in the chicken segment in 2012. He says JBS will focus on resuming activity at Doux and making the company profitable. "From next year we will look at opportunities for expansion in poultry in Brazil," he says.
Batista adds that the company expects to grow by acquiring small and medium-sized regional companies. "I had ten prospectuses from companies the day after the Doux announcement, but I have not looked at any. It is not the right time. If we had acquired a strong company, OK - but we did a deal with a company that was collapsing," he explains.
JBS expects to turn over R$ 700 million with Doux this year, with an EBITDA margin (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of around 10%.
