JBS contests Greenpeace allegations
On June 6 JBS denied the various allegations made by Greenpeace against the company, saying it had violated a public commitment entered into in 2009 not to buy cattle from deforested areas of the Amazon, from indigenous land, or from farms that are involved with slave labor. "The information on JBS in the report is false, misleading and inaccurate, and leads society to a false conclusion about the reality of the situation. Hence, the company will sue Greenpeace and pursue every reasonable legal means to repair the damage done to its image by this erroneous information," said JBS in its statement to the Brazilian securities and exchange commission (CVM).
