Doux Frangosul’s integrated breeders resume activities in Rio Grande do Sul
In the northern region of Rio Grande do Sul, non-payment for lots of chicken has closed down hundreds of farms. About 500 farmers have been affected by the crisis. In three years, the Doux Frangosul has built up a debt in excess of R$ 30 million. The situation has been eased by leasing slaughterhouses in Passo Fundo and Montenegro to JBS.
JBS has so far released more than R$ 12 million for payments to the farmers. The one in Passo Fundo, which had been shut down by a lack of raw material, will resume slaughter next month. More than 1,500 employees who were on forced vacation will return to work.
