Investigation into Doux filed
The request for an investigation into alleged irregularities in financial transactions and business dealings at Doux Frangosul with its headquarters in France has been filed. Investigation, called for on January 17 by the Secretary of Development, Mauro Knijnik, and the Secretary of Agriculture, Luiz Fernando Mainardi, of the then Attorney General, Ivory Coelho Neto, also involved the social harm caused to the families of 2,700 chicken and pig farmers who supply the company.
According to Celso Pedro Stein, a prosecutor from Montenegro in charge of the investigation, the data presented by the state government were contained in the company’s financial reports and failed to indicate any possibility of a crime. "They may have acted immorally, but not illegally. These are public documents, in which the company expresses its extremely poor financial condition, and there was no evidence to set up an investigation," said Stein.
