JBS Group close to buying Delta
The purchase of Delta Engenharia is practically a done deal by the J&F Group, the holding company which controls JBS, 30% of which is held by Brazil’s state-owned development bank, BNDES. The price has not been decided on.
Negotiations are taking place between Joesley Batista, of JBS, and Ferdinand Cavendish, the owner of Delta. The federal government is very interested in the deal, as Delta has more contracts as part of the Growth Acceleration Program (CAP) than any other company.
Delta was offered for sale because it is at the heart of a parliamentary investigation involving Carlinhos Cachoeira, looking into links between him and public and private agents - among them, Delta.
