JBS now buying smaller slaughterhouses
The world’s largest meat company, JBS is beginning to buy up smaller slaughterhouses. It has bought the Frigoforte group, which has two units in Mato Grosso do Sul, one in Paraná and another one in Santa Catarina. The slaughter center is in Ponta Porã (Mato Grosso do Sul state), with a capacity of about 350 head a day.
JBS is also said to be negotiating with Navicarnes, which has units in Nova Andradina and Rochedo (both in Mato Grosso do Sul), in Pirapozinho (São Paulo state) and Barra do Bugres (Mao Grosso state). JBS declined to comment.
