JBS to finish 230,000 head of cattle in feedlots in 2012, 9% up on 2011
JBS has announced that it will finish 230,000 head of cattle in feedlots in 2012, an increase of 9% on the 211,000 head finished in feedlots last year.
According to the veterinary technician and an economist at Banco Original, Mariana Peres, JBS has five feedlots – one in Mato Grosso two in São Paulo and two in Goiás. Banco Original is controlled by the holding company J&F, which also owns JBS, Eldorado Brasil and Flora. JBS does not own cattle, it works in partnerships with farmers, explained Peres.
Peres says this increase reflects the need to intensify production and better farers’ better understanding of process, considering it now to be strategic and not speculative.
