Corn from Mato Grosso to increase market share in exports and southern Brazil this year
Because all expectations surrounding the winter corn harvest in Mato Grosso, the USDA has forecast in this month’s report that Brazil will have a greater market share in exports. According to the USDA, Brazil will export 10.5 million tons of corn, mainly from Mato Grosso and Paraná.
In addition, southern states signed contracts to purchase corn from Mato Grosso to ensure local their supplies, following the collapse of their own harvest. These indicators could be keys issues for the future of corn, which - with low final stocks similar to the last harvest – could guarantee attractive prices this season.
