Abipecs sees repeat of Russian situation with Argentina

Negotiations to resolve Argentina’s now import limits on Brazilian pork may last for months, in a repeat of what the situation with Russia, which has been blocking meat imports since June 15, 2011, says the president of the Brazilian Association of Pork Producers and Exporters (Abipecs), Pedro de Camargo Neto.

The executive said, "We're trying to solve the situation but our government also has to react, to complain more. It cannot be left as it is."

Brazilian pork has been banned from entering Argentina since February 1. On March 16, the Minister of Agriculture, Mendes Ribeiro Filho, was in Buenos Aires to discuss the matter with the Argentine minister, Norbert Yauhar.
