Average chicken weights - IBGE
The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) says that the heaviest chicken carcasses (2.546 kg) are in Pará state, which, incidentally, is the only state in the North of Brazil with slaughter covered by the survey. Acre, Amazonas, Rondônia and Tocantins were ruled out, having three or fewer units inspected, and Roraima and Amapá have no units inspected.
The lightest chicken was found in the South, at 2.122 kg. The South is the main producer and exporter of grillers, chickens that weigh two to four pounds. Paraná (average weight of 2.073 kg) and Rio Grande do Sul (1.907 kg), are Brazil's biggest exporters of whole chickens. In the first quarter of 2012, nearly 60% of all whole chicken exported by Brazil came from there.
