Poultry production in Russia up 21% in first two months
Poultry production in Russia reached 535,000 tons in January and February, 21.7% up on the first two months of 2011, according to the country’s federal statistics service. Without revealing the number in tons, the agency adds that Russia produced 25% more in February than the same month last year.
In comparison with January 2012, the increase was 0.8%, according to the service. The poultry industry in Russia is developing at a considerable pace, with private investment growing steadily and the government encouraging greater domestic production in order to replace imports.
