South Africa suffers outbreak of ASF
Veterinary authorities in South Africa have confirmed an outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the province of Mpumalanga. In total, 80 pigs have been exposed to the disease and 28 have died from it. The other 52 have been destroyed. The outbreak came outside the ASF control area in the country.
Russia is now facing the worst situation with the ASF. At least six outbreaks have been confirmed this year, the worst single event being in Krasnodar, where 200 animals were killed by the disease and 34,600 were destroyed.
