Brazilian government says Paraguay dallied over first FMD outbreak

The second outbreak of FMD in Paraguay may have been caused by the Paraguayan government's delay in announcing the first outbreak, in September last year, and failing to vaccinate the herd near the first outbreak, according to Ênio Marques, Brazil’s stand-in Secretary of Agricultural Defense at the Ministry of Agriculture. He said the federal government is doing everything possible to prevent infection of the Brazilian herd.
