Healthy Cantabrian anchovy sector

Cantabrian anchovy catches in the Bay of Biscay are currently around 22,000 tonnes this year, local sources have told IEG Vu. The anchovy biomass index in the area, recently estimated by biologists at the Basque technological marine centre AZTI, is 85,000 tonnes. Producers and biologists are happy with these figures.
