Dr Ynte Schukken, chief scientific officer for Netherlands-based veterinary consultancy GD Animal Health, said the average size of dairy herds globally is growing fast with no limits envisaged, apart from environmental restrictions. He warned that such mega-herds face a higher likelihood of persistent infection, Agra Europe’s sister title Animal Pharm reports.
