Analysis: Barley production to reach four-year high in 2013/14

The International Grains Council (IGC) forecast world barley production at 138 million (mln) tonnes in 2013/14, the highest in four years, due to increased plantings and slightly higher projected yields. This puts production up by 6% compared with last year. Most of the growth is likely to come from better harvests in the Black Sea region, which was hit by drought last year.
