A FAMILY in Rostock, Germany, has unearthed around two tonnes of canned fish while digging the foundations for a new drive, the Ostsee-Zeitung reports. The fish had been there since German Democratic Republic times. An illegal rubbish tip containing waste from a former fish processing plant had previously been discovered when the housing estate was built. Scientists found that the goods were no longer fit for consumption.
