Mid-calorie CSDs tested againThis article was originally published in Foodnews
COCA-Cola is testing mid-calorie carbonated soft drinks again with its Sprite and Fanta brands. Made with a blend of sugar and stevia, Sprite Select and Fanta Select will have half the calories of the regular products. They are being tested in four markets. Coke tried mid-calorie drinks before, with its C2 product, but this failed in the US and was never launched in the UK (FOODNEWS 10 December 2004) . PepsiCo’s similar Edge product (FOODNEWS 12 March 2004) and this was also withdrawn. Cadbury Schweppes monitored the potential trend (FOODNEWS 16 June 2004) but decided not to follow suit.
