Germany's appetite for cheaper vegetables: consumption up 6%

VEGETABLE consumption in Germany grew by 6% in the first quarter of 2011, compared with the same period of 2010, and was also slightly above the long term average. There was particularly notable growth in household purchases of cauliflowers, courgettes, cucumbers, iceberg lettuces, broccoli, kohlrabi and tomatoes, according to GfK panel data.
