THE Japanese government will co-finance the installation of an organic dehydrated mango plant in Chulucanas, Peru following investment of USD103 000, Peruvian authorities have announced. Under the project entitled 'One Town, One Product', as part of Japan's Assistance for Community Projects (APC), 168 producers who form part of the Mango Producers' Association of Alto Piura (Apromalpi) will benefit. Apromalpi currently exports fresh mango, purée and concentrate to France and Germany, totalling 1 600 tonnes. With the addition of dehydrated mango, the association hopes to ship 3 000 tonnes and export to other countries such as the Netherlands and Canada.
