THE news last week that about 50 (short) tons of Oklahoman wine grapes will go to waste this year because Oklahoma wineries are choosing to buy in and bottle Californian bulk wine instead has raised the question of whether having the behemoth that is the Californian wine industry on the doorstep of fledgling US wine-growing areas is inhibiting their development.
