SUNTORY is to start selling its soft drinks in China's Guangdong province from January using the local sales network of PepsiCo Inc. It will start with its Rich brand of dairy soft drink. Suntory bottles and distributes PepsiCo products in Japan. While it also has a presence in China, its beer and soft drink activities in the country are limited to Shanghai and Beijing. Suntory aims to raise its soft drink sales to 10 million cases in 2010 and 30 million cases by 2012, from 6.8 million cases forecast for 2009. It is aiming for sales worth ¥20 billion (US$219 million) by 2012, from the present level of about ¥4.0 billion.
