Almond output still set to decline in Spanish region

This article was originally published in Foodnews

Production in Spain’s central autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha is set to drop by 50%, which is in accordance with early estimates made in June, according to the nut production group of the Castilla-La Mancha branch of Spain’s young farmers’ association ASAJA (ASAJA CLM). ASAJA CLM expects the region’s almond harvest could reach around 4,500 tonnes of almond kernel, blaming the low production “mainly on drought and frost, which caused low yields of the crop”.
