Vanilla has been chosen as the ice cream variety of 2007 by Uniteis , the Italian artisan ice cream manufacturers' association in Germany. Speaking in Frankfurt, Uniteis representative Marzio Giust said the variety was based on a classic recipe which used a combination of Bourbon vanilla and Tahiti vanilla. Uniteis has chosen an ice cream variety each year since 2000. Last year's variety was Gianduia, a mixture of chocolate and hazelnut.
