Missouri makes ice cream cone state dishThis article was originally published in Dairy Markets
Missouri is to join other US states by having its own state dish - the ice cream cone. Popular belief is that the cone was invented for the state's 1904 World's Fair, though in fact the cone concept was present and documented well before then. However, the state undoubtedly helped popularise the cone, and a campaig is already underway to erect an ice cream cone monument in St Louis. Missouri is following other states with official desserts, such as Massachusetts and South Dakota, who have Boston cream pie and Kuchen cream cake as their respective state dishes.
