Dollar falls amid Wall Street woes

The US dollar has taken a switchback ride this week as shares on the US stock market have imploded. Official ECB rates on Wednesday show a rate of €1 = $1.4224, a drop of almost 1% compared with last Wednesday's value, which was the dollar's highest rating against the euro over twelve months. But the dollar recovered strength in later trading on Wednesday as US funds chose the dollar as a 'safe haven' relative to sinking equity values.
