Thailand forecast to export up to 5m tonnes of sugar in 2007

THAILAND could export as much as 5m tonnes of sugar this year compared with an average of 3.75m tonnes in the last five years, according to the country's Mitr Phol Sugar Corporation. Speaking at an international sugar conference in Dubai, the company's president Isara Vongkusolkit, said: "This year exports should bounce back to about 5m tonnes." However, Mr Vongkusolkit did not explain why exports might be higher.
