FORTIS Bank Nederland plans to restart its agricultural commodities brokerage on November 1, following the split up of Fortis units last year. Rick Torken, managing director and global head of agricultural commodities, said the bank had hired seven staff members for the London-based desk, which will trade futures and options in cocoa, coffee and sugar markets. "Due to the separation between Fortis Bank Netherlands and Fortis Bank Belgium, we were not able to perform certain activities over the last year," said Mr Torken. "We need to get them back up for our regular commodity financing operation."
