NICARAGUAN coffee output in 2009/10 will be 31% higher than the 1.38m 60kg bags expected in the 2008/09 coffee cycle that ends in September, said Walter Navas, executive secretary of the country's coffee board. The forecast is for 1.53m bags for export, plus 268,000 bags for domestic consumption. Mr Navas added that coffee trees were thriving because growers had access to financing to purchase fertiliser and other farm inputs.
