CME Group's quarterly profit fell by 15% to $224.4m ($3.37 a share) from $264.4m a year earlier due to lower trading volume. Revenue slipped 14% to $647.8m. Cost cutting and higher fees helped it beat expectations of earnings of $3.23 a share on $649m in revenue. Average daily volume in the second quarter slip 19% from a year earlier, but expenses fell 13%. CME said signs of economic stability boosted June volumes in interest rates, foreign exchange and agriculture contracts.
