India records early success with spice exports

INDIA'S spice exports rose 19.9% in volume terms and 28.9% in value terms in April and May 2008, the first two months of the current fiscal year, driven by higher chilli and mint-product shipments The country's Spices Board explained that India exported 98,570 tonnes of spices in April and May against 82,210 tonnes a year earlier, and in value terms exports rose to $214.88m from $166.67m a year earlier.
