Wheat rust spreads

THE UN has warned that a virulent wheat fungus, previously found in East Africa and Yemen, has spread to Iran, and could be heading across the Indian subcontinent. The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation said about 80% of all wheat varieties planted in Asia and Africa are susceptible to wheat stem rust.
