Czarnikow predicts continued Chinese demand

CHINESE sugar demand looks set to maintain its new strong pattern over the 2007/08 season, sugar merchant Czarnikow said in its latest issue of Sugar Review .Czarnikow noted that China has one of the lowest per capita sugar consumption levels in the world - due to cultural factors and the small part that sugar plays in the country's traditional diet. "However, urbanisation has introduced a whole new culture of soft drink and processed product consumption, " it added.
