UBS Investment Bank has created a team to specialise in risk management products in the agricultural sector. It will focus on sugar (raw and white), wheat, maize, rapeseed, soyabeans, soya oil, soyameal and cotton. UBS expects the unit to be up and running by the second half of this year. Rowan Staines, director of media relations at UBS, said the plan was to expand the product portfolio further in 2008. She said the company has an exchange trading unit in the agricultural sector but this is its first move into the over-the-counter arena. The new unit will be based in Singapore and London, headed by Simon Games-Thomas. John Watson, Jonathan Deane and John Reeve make up the rest of the team.
