Berri juice plant to closeThis article was originally published in Foodnews
NATIONAL Foods, owned by Kirin of Japan, is closing the Berri fruit juice factory in South Australia's Riverland district. All production will cease by June 2010. The decision follows a review of all National Foods' juice manufacturing sites. In September, National Foods decided not to resume production of long-life juice at Riverland after A$500 000 (US$464 000) worth of equipment was vandalised. In addition, said company spokesman Geoff Lynch, the company had too many plants around the country and less fruit was being produced in Riverland due to drought.
