Cashew target threatened

SLASH and burn techniques are so out of control in Mozambique that the cashew production target of 90 000-95 000 tonnes may not be achieved, the country's Notícias newspaper reported. On the launch of the cashew sales campaign at the Itoculo administrative post on Tuesday, the director of the National Cashew Institute, Filomena Maiópuè, told the paper that out of control slash and burn had devastated several thousand mature cashew trees.
