GALLA Foods, an Indian fruit processor, is working with mango growers in the state of Andhra Pradesh, to develop mango-flavoured waters. According to a report in the Financial Express, about 500 farmers have registered with the company to supply 28 000 tonnes of fruit that will produce 13 500 tonnes of single strength pulp. Jay Galla, managing director of the company, was quoted as saying: "We are looking at new blends and variants with mango as the base." Galla presently has a production capacity of some 20 tonnes of fruit, but plans to increase this.
