FRENCH vegetable processor, Bonduelle, is planning to invest over €40 million in construction of a factory in Ukraine's Cherkassy region (Ukraine), to produce canned and frozen vegetables. Eugene Vorotni-kov writes: the capacity of the plant will exceed 100 million cans a year and it will make Bonduelle Ukraine's largest manufacturer of such products, according to FOODNEWS sources. Bonduelle currently holds a 50% share in the Ukrainian canned and frozen food market. So far, Bonduelle has imported products into Ukraine from Hungary, Poland, France and Russia. The new factory will primarily service the Ukrainian market, as well as those in Belarus and Uzbekistan, said project co-ordinator, Pascal Leduc.
