Modernised plant open

This article was originally published in Foodnews

WIMM-Bill-Dann Foods (WBD) will open its renovated dairy plant in Tbilisi in late September, according to company spokeswoman Marina Kagan. WBD has invested about US$500 million in modernising the old Georgian Foods plant, which it bought nearly two years ago ( FOODNEWS 2 November 2007). The plant, WBD's 38th factory, will use raw milk supplied by local farmers to make dairy products for the domestic market and also for export to Azerbaijan and Armenia. WBD, which among other products makes Chudo yogurts and J7 juices, is expecting sales volumes for its dairy products to fall no more than 3% year-on-year in the second quarter, after a 6% fall in the first quarter.
