Asda supply contract

FULLERS Foods International, a UK fresh and frozen foods processor, has clinched a UK£120 million supply contract with the Asda supermarket chain, which is owned by Wal-Mart. Yorkshire-based Fullers has secured a two-year contract to supply frozen vegetables and a one-year contract for frozen French fries, of which about 57% will be made with UK potatoes. Asda awarded a frozen vegetables contract, then worth UK£20 million, to the company in 2005 (FOODNEWS 8 April 2005) and Fullers hopes that the extended and larger contract will encourage more Yorkshire farmers to grow crops.
