Exports resumedThis article was originally published in Foodnews
MALAYSIA is to resume frozen seafood exports to the EU, after a visit from EU officials (FOODNEWS 23 January). Malaysia had voluntarily stopped exporting the products 11 months ago, as they did not comply with EU sanitary standards. EU representatives inspected the products during the visit and judged that they now fulfil the requirements. Around 40 Malaysian companies export frozen seafood to the EU and 40 more are waiting for a permit from EU authorities to commence exports. Before the suspension, annual Malaysian frozen seafood exports were valued about 125 million.
