Tuna profits upThis article was originally published in Foodnews
PHILIPPINE tuna processor, Alliance Tuna International, has posted higher profits for the first quarter of this year. Net income rose by more than a quarter to US$220 340 in January-March, on revenues of US$13.3 million, a growth of 42% from the same period last year. "This increase in sales was primarily due to the fact that the company's global marketing network helped serve as an insurance against slowdown in some of its traditional markets," the firm said. Alliance added that the number of containers shipped in the quarter increased 57% to 280, with Europe as the top destination.
