PRICES paid to lemon growers in Spain are not sufficient to cover costs, says the president of the growers association, Asaja-Murcia. This is in contrast to the fact that the EU is importing fewer lemons from Argen-tina. Prices paid for fresh Verna lemons are now at about 0.17/kg when they should be around 0.23-0.35/kg to cover costs, according to the association. Prices for processing lemons are at a slightly lower level.
