SPANISH food manufacturing giant, Nueva Rumasa, is to buy Kraft's cheese processing plant in Mahon, Balearic Islands, Spain. Six months after Kraft announced the factory closure, the two companies signed a pre-contract. The sale is to be formalised at the end of June. Carnes y Conservas Espaolas (Carcesa), a subsidiary of Nueva Rumasa, will buy the plant where the cheese brands Tranchettes, Sant and Quesilettes are produced. The buyer has also agreed to maintain the 164 workers employed in the plant.
