THE Philippine Association of Meat Processors (Pampi) said processors in the country have stopped importing meat from the US due to the spread of swine flu, and are now importing meats from nearby countries such as South Korea. The Philippines' agriculture department has banned the import of pork from the US and Mexico. Russia has banned all meats from Mexico and the southern US, while China banned meat from Mexico and the US states of Texas, California and Kansas. As many as 159 deaths in Mexico have been attributed to swine flu. The US, Canada, Spain and Scotland have a number of confirmed cases. Several other countries are now also investigating unconfirmed cases.
