WISCONSIN has become the second-largest vegetable producing state in the US. California is the country's number one producer, accounting for 69% of all vegetables grown in the US. The National Agricultural Statistics Service says Wisconsin is now the leader in production of sugar snap peas for the industry, with 40% of the country's output in 2008 at almost 327 000 (short) tons, and is now in second place for processed sweet corn production, at nearly 652 000 tons.
