Meat recall initiatedThis article was originally published in Foodnews
JAPANESE firm Itoham Foods is recalling almost three million packs of sausages and other processed products, which may be contaminated with cyanide. The well water used at the Kashima plant, east of Tokyo, was found to contain high levels of cyanogen chloride and cyanide ions, the company confirmed, although it does not think the products have been contaminated. No incidence of sickness has been reported. The recall could cost Itoham ¥300 million (US$3.2 million).
