DHUL, the food and drink division of Spanish conglomerate Nueva Rumesa, is to start producing its Carcesa vegetable drinks at a €50million plant due to be built in southern Spain. The company has received a €6.5 million subsidy from the Agency for Innovation and Development of Andalucia to build the plant on a huge site in Jaen near Granada. In addition to vegetable juices, the factory will make the company's Dhul and Chef Dhul brand ready meals. Neuva Rumasa bought the Apis, Fruco and Carcesa fruit and vegetable juice products from Kraft earlier this year (FOODNEWS 21 March). Dhul is targeting a 25% increase in sales of Carcesa vegetable juices this year, with Portugal seen as a key growth market.
